Beckwith seeks a Program Director, with a passion for summer camp ministry and prayerful, compassionate leadership to direct and guide the Beckwith Summer Camp program. The Program Director will work with Beckwith staff to further the mission of Beckwith through development and management of Beckwith Summer Camp, Beckwith programs, marketing, and strategic operations ensuring safe and enriching summer camp, youth events, and adult programs and experiences.
The ideal candidate will be a committed relationship-builder who can nurture the summer camp staff, community, and diocesan relationships to further the mission and ministry of Beckwith and Beckwith Summer Camp. We seek a visionary leader, and excellent communicator who is knowledgeable with ACA Standards and Episcopal tradition.

Reports to the Executive Director
To further the mission of Beckwith through development and management of programs, human resources, finances, marketing, and strategic operations. The Program Director will work with Beckwith staff to ensure safe and enriching summer camp, youth events, and adult programs and experiences.
Other Job Duties
Participate as a member of the Beckwith leadership team in order to meet the needs of campers and guests in accordance with the Beckwith mission. Actively participate as a
member of the Beckwith leadership team to meet and exceed goals and objectives set by the team.
Maintain clear and positive written and verbal communication with all staff. Work closely with staff to ensure good stewardship of all resources. Assist with special projects as needed and other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
At least 25 years of age
2- 4 years supervisory and camp ministry experience
Experience with both design and execution of print and email marketing
Continue to shift camp culture to a healthy and enriching Episcopal experience
Obtain ACA Accreditation
Continue to improve the year around Special Ministries Program
Develop and establish adult programs throughout the year
Work as a member of the Beckwith Challenge Course team
General and specific responsibilities include but are not limited to
Summer Camp Director
Hire, supervise and evaluate summer camp leadership team members and staff
Provide consistent and on-going feedback, support and guidance of summer camp staff
Provide oversight and management of counselors and campers.
Oversee counselor and camper discipline procedures to ensure they are in line with camp policies and procedures.
Regularly monitor the work of leadership staff and of camp counselors.
Provide recommendations and concerns regarding leadership team members’ performance.
Run weekly Leadership Team meetings and weekly staff meetings.
Lead Staff Training
Lead and contract for specific workshops – behavior management, grievance
procedures, crisis and risk management, health policies and procedures, waterfront
training, EMT/Red Cross, and more.
Facilitate Daily Staff Small Group Meetings
Facilitate a bible study, reflection and constructive problem-solving meetings with small groups of staff.
Provide feedback, insight and support in a productive manner.
Oversee the daily operation of the summer camp
Responsible for weekly cabin staffing.
Responsible for placing campers in cabins.
Oversee check-in logistics – make sure campers turn in medical forms with allergies,RX directions, and OTC instructions, etc.
Provide staff with weekly resources – schedules, feedback forms, check-out slips, etc.
Check in with the camp nurse to make sure the health center’s needs are being met.
Help with administrative and programmatic tasks as needed.
Carry the on-call phone in case of parent emergencies.
Regularly meet with staff.
•Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of camp staff and campers with minimal time off during camp operation
. Program Director will live on the Beckwith campus during the camp programs.
•Create, execute and distribute the marketing materials for all camps, programs, and special events. Continued update and development of the Camp website, social media sites and e-newsletters
•Capacity to learn and execute camp registration through the Camp Wise
•In coordination with the Director of Operations assist with the year around Challenge Course and Waterfront programs – inspections, equipment, set-up, safety checks, records, rules,evaluations, policies and trainings
•In coordination with the Director of Operations manage the groups for the Challenge Course: general facilitation, train facilitators, program development, marketing and growth
•In coordination with the Director of Operations maintain ACCT standards for the Challenge Course: perform site and equipment inspections, schedule annual inspections, and implement all updates and repairs
•Beckwith is not a Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm center. Will require work on nights, weekends, and some holidays.
•The Program Director, as is the case for all year round staff, should also be willing to participate in the “behind the scenes” facets of Be ckwith life as needed, including, but not limited to: assisting with meal preparation/clean-up in the kitchen, housekeeping, office administration tasks
•Ability to work in extreme heat, and move about the camp property in various environmental conditions.
•Physical ability to respond appropriately to situa tions requiring first aid.
•Requires endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
•Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterit y to operate light maintenance equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
