We Believe - Beckwith Creed
Beckwith Sunday Download WE BELIEVE…. that Camp Beckwith is holy ground and a safe place to be real; that the summer camp staff is the best ever and they help us see God. WE BELIEVE…. that summer is the best time of the year and rain is not so bad; that God had a bad day when He made yellow flies and mosquitos; and we believe in dinosaurs. WE BELIEVE…. that all people have the same rights, and we do mean ALL. WE BELIEVE…. in equality, and in the right to choose, and that God’s sacraments are for everyone. WE BELIEVE…. that laughter is good for the soul; that miracles can and do happen; and that once saved, always saved. WE BELIEVE…. that there is love in the world; that friendship is romance; in general respect; and that nobody deserves to suffer. WE BELIEVE…. in loyalty; and that peace is obtainable. WE BELIEVE…. in God, and that God knows everything. We don’t know how, but we believe it. WE BELIEVE…. in Jesus and that he is alive. WE BELIEVE... in the power of prayer. We hope for happiness, and we believe that we are going to heaven. WE BELIEVE that we are blessed and beautiful. We believe in love. The Prayers of the People
Beckwith Sunday Download We give you thanks for the beauty of earth and sky and sea; for the richness of forests, and bayous, for the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers. Increase our reverence for the beauty and the mystery of life; give us new insight into your purposes for us as stewards of your creation, and give us wisdom and determination in making provision for its future in accordance with your will. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer For all the leaders of the people of the world, that your holy and life-giving Spirit may so move their hearts and guide their actions, that barriers which divide us may crumble, suspicions disappear, and hatreds cease; that our divisions being healed, we may live in justice and peace. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer For our diocesan family, that we may grow in love for one another and for all people. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer For our teenagers who are claiming their lives, for our children who are beginning their lives. Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer O God, in the course of this busy life, thank you for times of refreshment and peace; grant that we may so use our leisure to rebuild our bodies and renew our minds, that our spirits may be opened to the goodness of your creation. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer For all people who have no time for leisure, for the poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the sick and suffering, and all who have none to care for them. We pray especially for refugees and those who are for them. Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer The Great Thanksgiving
Beckwith Sunday Download Celebrant: The Lord be with you. People: And also with you. Celebrant: Lift up your hearts. People: We lift them to the Lord. Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. People: It is right to give God thanks and praise It is right to give thanks to you, God of all time and our time. We are grateful for the ways you have been revealed to us in the past: through the memories of life that have shaped us into who we are today: for retreats and camps and quiet walks in the woods of Camp Beckwith; through the love of community: for learning, laughing and living in God’s front yard; through your creation and the beauty each season brings; for the water of Weeks Bay, giant oak trees, and starry nights above the dock; and through a shared hope for the consolation and redemption of the world through our Lord Jesus Christ. Confident of your love, we bring our whole selves into your presence: our achievements and our failures, our proud moments and our hidden shame, our undying dreams and our steadfast resolve. At this table of grace and goodness, we meet you through a sacred communion with all of creation. And so, we join together with the angels, archangels and all the company of heaven to sing: |
