​Looking for a fun, rewarding job that just might change your life? Then working at a summer camp may be just the job for you!

Working at Camp Beckwith is tough yet incredibly rewarding work. All summer long you will be provided with opportunities to help campers discover or strengthen their love of God, all the while growing in your own faith journey.
​Specific duties for all staff positions include:
-Providing a Christian environment that promotes social, emotional, spiritual and physical safety!
-Supervision of campers at all times.
-Supporting the policies of Camp Beckwith.
-Supporting the Dean’s program.
-Recognizing your own health and well being, and being a good steward of your energy and personal resources.
*A note to parents: Applying for a staff position is a wonderful opportunity for your teen/young adult to gain skills like filling out applications, contacting their potential employer, and setting up a time/date for an interview. A potential staff member who does these things independently exhibits the kind of qualities that we look for in summer staff.

​**All staff positions are required to attend a staff training prior to the beginning of camp that will run May 21-June 3.
 
Head Counselor
  • Responsible to the Camp Director and Executive Director.
  • Maintaining the physical and spiritual health and well-being of the campers and staff
  • Direct supervision of the Summer Camp Staff
  • Assist in camper registration
  • Assist in leading Staff Training
  • Communicate between the Summer Camp Staff and Camp Director
  • Work with Counselors coordinating the week on the scheduling and logistical needs
  • Coordinate Sabbath time for the Summer Staff
  • Support camp activity areas
  • Select and evaluate Junior Counselors
  • Most importantly, being a positive Christian role model for all campers and staff.
  • The Head Counselor must have a mature and active faith in Christ and be extremely flexible and responsible. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
Compensation: $2800 for the summer ($280/week)
Age Requirement: 20 years or older.



Activity Director
  • Activity Director is responsible to the Head Counselor, Camp Director, and Executive Director.
  • Maintain the physical and spiritual health and well-being of the campers and staff
  • Serve as a role model to other staff
  • Direct supervision of the Summer Camp Staff
  • Assist in camper registration
  • Assist in leading activities during Staff Training
  • Communicate between the Head Counselor, Summer Camp Staff and Camp Director
  • Work with Head Counselor coordinating the week on activity scheduling and logistical needs
  • Present an activity plan during pre-camp to staff
  • Support camp activity areas
  • Work with the Dean to implement program specific activities
  • Keep an inventory of and maintain all equipment/supplies for activities, and communicate needs to the Camp Director
  • Ensure each activity has sufficient supervision
  • Facilitate staff activity assignments with the Head Counselor and Camp Director
  • Organize and implement large group icebreakers/games
  • Assist with Junior Counselor Training
  • Most importantly, be a positive Christian role model for all campers.
  • The Activity Director must have a mature and active faith in Christ and be extremely flexible and responsible. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director. 
Compensation: $2400 for the summer ($240/week)
Age Requirement: 20 years or older.



Waterfront Director
  • Waterfront Director is responsible to the Head Counselor, Camp Director, and Executive Director.
  • Maintain the physical and spiritual health and well-being of the campers and staff
  • Serve as a role model to other staff
  • Direct supervision of the Summer Camp Staff
  • Assist in leading activities during Staff Training
  • Communicate between the Head Counselor, Summer Camp Staff and Camp Director
  • Work with Head Counselor and Activities Director coordinating waterfront scheduling and logistical needs
  • Present a waterfront activity plan and Emergency Action Plan during pre-camp to staff
  • Ensure each activity has sufficient supervision
  • Support waterfront activity areas
  • Keep an inventory of and maintain all equipment/supplies for waterfront area
  • Communicate supply/ equipment needs to the Camp Director
  • Facilitate staff activity assignments with the Head Counselor and Camp Director
  • Assist in camper check-in
  • And most importantly, being a positive Christian role model for all campers.
  • The Waterfront Director must have a mature and active faith in Christ and be extremely flexible and responsible. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director. 
  • Must be lifeguard certified and have a boater's license 
Compensation: $2400 for the summer ($240/week)
Age Requirement: 20 years or older.


Media Director
  • Media Director is responsible to the Head Counselor, Camp Director, and Executive Director.
  • Maintain the physical and spiritual health and well-being of the campers and staff
  • Serve as a role model to other staff
  • Direct supervision of the Summer Camp Staff
  • Assist in camper registration
  • Assist in leading activities during Staff Training
  • Communicate between the Head Counselor, Summer Camp Staff and Camp Director
  • Capture life-long memories from each camp session through photography and/or videography
  • Develop a weekly slide show/video and photo album
  • Maintain the Beckwith Facebook and Instagram page
  • Work with weekly coordinators on any media or other technology needs
  • Assist in weekly programming
  • And most importantly, being a positive Christian role model for all campers.
  • The Media Director must have a mature and active faith in Christ and be extremely flexible and responsible. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Camp Director
Compensation: $2400 for the summer ($240/week)
Age Requirement: 19 years or older.


Music Director
  • Responsible for selecting, planning and implementing all music appropriate for each camp session and age group. Music is a fundamental part of the worship component of camp life and the Music Director is vital to that experience. 
  • Accountable to the Head Counselor and Summer Camp Director.
  • Daily and consistently demonstrating the joy of music and singing, work with the Dean to respond to and implement program-specific music requests (prior to and during the session)
  • Plan music in advance of each group gathering that requires music
  • Teach and practice songs with staff during staff training and throughout the summer
  • Teach and lead songs for campers
  • Facilitate music for worship
  • Support counselors and be in cabins as needed
  • Other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Summer Camp Director.
Compensation: $2400 for the summer ($240/week)
Age Requirement: 18 years or older and at least one year of college preferred

Summer Camp Counselors 
  • Responsible to the Head Counselor, Camp Director, and Executive Director. 
  • Maintaining the physical and spiritual health and well-being of a group of no more than 112 campers each day
  • Leading cabin devotions
  • Keeping campers on schedule for daily activities
  • Facilitating games and activities
  • Being a positive Christian role model for all campers.
  • Be responsible for camp activities (ie. Arts and Crafts, Waterfront, Ropes Course, Environmental Education, Games) and be responsible for campers in their cabin.
  • Work with other counselors in cabins and will occasionally rotate out of cabin for a week.
  • Work in a team environment and to assist in coordinating at least one camp session during the summer.
  • Counselors must have a mature and active faith in Christ. Counselors must be extremely flexible and responsible people. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation. 
Compensation: $2000 for the summer. ($200/week)
Counselors returning for their 2nd year or more will be paid an additional $100 for the summer.
Age Requirement: 18 years or older
 

Counselors-in-Training (CITs) 
  • Responsible to the Head Counselor, Camp Director and, Executive Director.
  • Maintaining the physical and spiritual health and well-being of a group of no more than 112 campers each day
  • Leading cabin devotions
  • Keeping campers on schedule for daily activities
  • Facilitating games and activities
  • Rotate between serving on Work Crew and Kitchen Crew
  • Being a positive Christian role model for all campers.
  • Counselors-in-Training will be responsible for assisting Summer Camp Counselors in leading camp activities (i.e. Arts and Crafts, Waterfront, Ropes Course, Environmental Education, Games) and be responsible for campers in their cabin. 
  • Work in a team environment and will join a team of experienced counselors in coordinating one camp session during the summer.
  • CITs must have a mature and active faith in Christ. Counselors-in-Training must be extremely flexible and responsible people. It is a very fulfilling position, but demands energy, love for kids and a servant’s attitude for God as a motivation. 
Compensation: $1350 for the summer. ($135/week)
CITs returning for their 2nd year and beyond will be paid an additional $100 for the summer.
Age Requirement: 16 years or older.
