Summer 2024 registration will open December 1! |
What about COVID-19?
FOR SUMMER 2023:
What is the deal with the deposit?
To register your camper for summer camp, a $100 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit must be paid. At the end of your registration process, you will be asked to pay this fee. Payment of the $100 deposit ensures your camper a spot at camp. If the deposit is not paid, and the session you have enrolled your camper in fills up, they will be moved to the waiting list. The deposit is deducted from the total camp fee. The balance can be paid anytime but is due no later than May 1st. Camp fee includes a T-shirt, water bottle, canteen items and programming material.
Do you offer any discounts?
Yes! We offer two discounts:
Early Bird Registration - if you register your camper before January 31, 2023, you will receive $15 off your registration.
Multi-Session/Multi-Camper (one per family)- if you are registering multiple campers, or registering one camper to attend multiple sessions, you can receive a one-time discount of $50.
Do you have any scholarships?
Yes! At Beckwith, we believe every child should have the opportunity to experience summer camp. Fill out our Scholarship Application by May 1st, and Beckwith will pay up to a third of camp costs.
What is your Cancellation Policy?
If it is necessary to cancel, INFORM THE OFFICE IMMEDIATELY by e-mail. We have many applicants on a waiting list and want to notify them of vacancies as soon as possible. If a camper fails to “show up” for their session and the office has not been notified of cancellation, the parents or guardians will be responsible and billed for the entire camp fee. For cancellations occurring more than 14 days before the start of your session, Beckwith will refund all fees except for the $100.00 non-refundable deposit. In the case of cancellations 14 days or less from the start of your session, no refund will be provided.
When and where is camper drop-off and pick-up?
You will be assigned a drop off time a week prior to the start of your camper's session. The time that you will be assigned will fall sometime between 3:00pm-5:00pm on the first day of your camper's camp session. There will be a line of cars that will run in front of the Alves Welcome Center. There will be a summer staff member to greet you, and the Camp Nurse to intake any medication information.
Camper pick up is at 10:00am the last day of your camper's camp session. Closing Eucharist (communion service) will be at 9:00am that morning, and families are invited to attend to worship with their camper. Upon packing up your camper's items, please make sure your camper is also leaving with their summer camp t-shirt, a group photo, and any left over medication.
Can I pick my camper up before the designated pick-up day/time?
Campers will be active in many different programs and events during their stay at camp. These valuable experiences are built in succession upon one another and campers may not have another opportunity to participate in these events during the session. We ask all parents to honor these camp experiences by encouraging your child to stay at camp the entire time. In the event of an emergency, parents will be called immediately and all efforts toward communication and safety will be made.
We also understand that there are extenuating circumstances where a child may have to be picked up a day early. If this is the case, please discuss it with the Camp Director prior to the start of the camp session. Regardless of how long a camper stays at camp, we charge for full-length camp sessions only.

What should my child NOT to bring to camp?
The following items will be confiscated and then returned at parent pick-up if found in camper's possession:
Can my child request to be in their friend's cabin?
Careful consideration is given to each cabin assignment. The final decision rests with the Summer Camp Director. Summer camp provides an opportunity for growth and for the camper to try new things, meet new people and make new friends. We ask parents to prepare their child by supporting this policy. You can make up to two cabin mate requests during the online registration process, and we guarantee that each camper will be paired with at least one of their requests.
Can I send my child mail while they are at camp?
Mailing letters to camp is discouraged. We often get letters that arrive after the session is over and have to return to sender. However, please feel free to put letters and notes in your camper’s bag or give them to a counselor on check-in day!
What about care packages?
Beckwith is now care-package free for all sessions. This includes care packages left for your camper on opening day. Campers may not receive packages at camp. Any packages will be returned to the sender. Please make sure that all family members and friends know this policy. Thank you for your support of this new policy. It makes camp better for everyone!
Is there a lost and found?
Beckwith does have a lost and found; however, we are not responsible for items lost or left at camp. Please leave all money and valuables at home, including cell phones, mp3 players, laptops, electronics, jewelry, and expensive clothing.
At the end of each session, we take any clothing left at camp to the local laundromat, and we keep lost and found items until two weeks after the end of the last session of camp. After that, they are donated to the local Goodwill.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call the office at 251-928-7844 or email the Camp Director at rachel@beckwithal.com
FOR SUMMER 2023:
- We highly suggest vaccinations, but it is not a requirement.
- Campers are welcome--but not required--to bring and wear masks if they would like
- Per CDC guidelines, if a child were to test positive at camp, they would be sent home, and the campers in the cabin would have a close eye kept on them, and be tested if symptoms were to appear. In summer 2022, we ran what was called "shadow camp," where the group that had been exposed had a special camp run, slightly separate from the remainder of camp, in order to control further exposure. We will implement "shadow camps" if the need arises. PLEASE NOTE: campers have just as much of the camp experience during shadow camp--this will not diminish the fun that they are able to have at camp--it may just look a little different!
- This is in accordance with guidelines provided by the Center for Disease Control, which can be found here.
- We highly recommend following safety precautions leading up to camp to limit the chance of pre-camp Covid exposure for your camper.
- If your camper has Covid symptoms before arriving at camp, please test them.
